Meet Alison Whitman

Alison has just started with us this week!  Alison has just moved to the Pittsburgh area and was looking for employment. We could not offer her a well-paying job, but upon meeting Alison, it seemed as though she is looking for something more important than money.  Well, let her tell you …

~Pastor Andy

"At 7 p.m. on August 17th, 1988, I pushed my twin out into the world. After a good 5 minutes, I decided I was ready.  That is when I met my family.  I have two great parents, an older sister, an older brother and a twin sister. I lived in Maryland up until a few weeks ago when I moved to Carnegie to live with my pretend older sister, Pastor Sara Colon.

"I don't really have a reason for moving here except for this huge gut feeling that God wanted me here. When I saw the Conscious Cafe I fell in love with the people and their mission here at the Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan Ministry.  I am so excited to be a part of it now!

"Growing up I would always hear my elders talk about how God gives us gifts or talents that we can use to help Him.  I was depressed because I thought God forgot about me. I didn't realize I did have talents that I could use for Him.  It took me 20 years to realize, but I can see that it is not too late. I found a place right here in Carnegie, PA, where I can help bring people to God by using my talents, whether it be organizing, videography, or music.

"Since I have been here I have been able to use my organization skills by aiding Adventist Community Services-Greater Pittsburgh moved their offices to the second floor of the Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan Ministry building. I was so excited to be able to help out, and I hope I can keep helping as they help the community.

"Words cannot express how happy I am that I finally feel like I am where I am supposed to be.  I can't say I have ever felt that before. All I know is that I hope God needs me here for a long time.

"Here is to each of us that we all find the home we have been looking for… In Him!
"
